We Praise Thee, Our Father

(Hymn, 11, 11, 11, 11 to Joanna or Butler's Cove)

We praise thee, our Father, thy love that forgave
Brought freedom and glory to master and slave.
Break chains that have bound us. Let gain be but loss,
For new chains have bound us to Christ and the Cross.

We praise thee, our Saviour, thy grace can end fears,
Can break through all barriers to reach new frontiers.
Lord, show us thy footprints, let gain be but loss,
Our feet firm to follow the Christ of the Cross.

We praise thee, great Spirit; when Pentecost came
Weak men were made strong through a wind and a flame.
Set fire to thy people. Let gain be but loss
While burning to tell of our Christ on the Cross.

We praise thee, O God, for all gifts of thy love,
A home in the Church and a homeland above.
Thy mark be upon us! Let gain be but loss.
We live and we die with our Christ of the Cross.
